Debates are necessary

Natural Law #6:
The Natural Right to Live Public Debates

The Principle:

It is a fundamental requirement of human consciousness to observe the authentic character and competence of a person before hiring them.

Citizens, as the primary employers in a democracy, hold an absolute right to witness political candidates live, unscripted, and unmanaged by media handlers.

The vast majority of voters are fed a manufactured diet of staged photo-ops, heavily edited soundbites, and scripted campaign ads. This is a false reality. To judge who a candidate truly is, we must observe them under pressure:

  • Clarity: Do they speak with genuine conviction and directness?

  • Depth: Do they possess a real, unprompted grasp of complex national issues?

  • Temperament: How do they handle adversity? Are they arrogant, or do they retreat into slick evasions when asked a direct question?

A healthy democracy cannot function when leaders are free to hide from public

scrutiny. Yet under the current broken system, dodging accountability has become a standard political strategy.

  • The 2019 Precedent: During the 2019 Canadian Federal Election, the sitting Prime Minister simply refused to attend the first major national televised leaders' debate, leaving his opponents to debate an empty podium.

  •

  • The Tactic: Ducking a debate is a deliberate, cynical choice to avoid defending a controversial record or answering hard questions. It is an act of supreme disrespect toward the electorate. Under this framework, hiding from the public is no longer an option.

The Three-Debate Mandate

Taxpaying citizens lead busy lives—raising families, running businesses, and working long hours. Expecting every voter to tune into a single scheduled broadcast is unrealistic.

  1. Guaranteed Access: Mandating a minimum of three separate live debates vastly increases the odds that every citizen can watch at least one or two complete broadcasts.

  2. Exposing the Mask: Anyone can fake a single performance or enjoy a lucky night. Three distinct debates ensure that political theatre fades, exposing true competence—or the lack thereof.

3 Mandatory debates

Organization, Independence, and Discipline

To ensure these debates are completely unbiased and untainted, the entire operational structure must be stripped away from the corporate media apparatus.

1.Corporate Media Exclusion:

No commercial media executives, corporate political donors, or partisan operatives may participate in organizing, funding, or formatting the debates.

2.Independent Leadership:

Debate moderators will be selected exclusively from non-partisan academic roles (such as active professors or educators) trained in logic, evidence-based reasoning, and objective moderation.

3.Geographic Fairness:

Each of the three mandatory debates must take place in a different province, ensuring broad regional representation across the nation.

4.Public Facilities & Totoal Transparency:

Debates will utilize Canada’s public broadcasting infrastructure—facilities already paid for by the taxpayer. Feeds must remain completely open for real-time, independent citizen recording and alternative media distribution, ensuring raw footage cannot be selectively edited or censored.

5.The Discipline Enforcer:

Rules will be simple, transparent, and strictly enforced. Moderators hold absolute authority to mute microphones the moment a candidate evades a question or resorts to divisive, ad hominem attacks. Furthermore, the Voter Ethics Committee will enforce strict penalties—up to and including immediate ballot disqualification—for any politician who refuses to participate.

Organization and discipline
SCORE CARD

"You hold the natural authority to be a calm, conscious voice for change."

As a conscious citizen grounded in your natural instincts, you possess both the clarity and the authority to demand discipline—from media, from elected officials, and across every public venue.
